mock-up gowns by farley..

Farley De Castro is a humble and quiet guy who can create magical gowns. (As long as you show him the right style for you. Sadly he does not sketch / design clothes). This weekend, we booked him for our entourage's gowns. =)

No, he is not a relative of the bride but how i wish he is! I first met Farley when i became part of Rencie's wedding entourage way back in 2001. (Rencie is a college buddy of the bride). The gowns Farley made for us are in perfect fit. No adjustments needed at all! The only downside was his shop was located in the flood-stricken Malabon, hehe.. When it was my turn to prepare for our wedding, i discovered that the W@wie community has great reviews on Farley's creation. Hmmm, sikat na pala si Farley! Expensive na rin kaya? So, together with my Mom, we braved to travel all the way to Malabon and brought some fabric with us to sample Farley's creation. I just wanna make sure he still has it and another excuse to have new clothes! hehe..

I chose this pearl-white chiffon fabric with gold streaks in 6 yards to create a flowing gown and another fabric in yellow and pink for my vintage dress. Upon showing him various photos to re-create, we settled to an electric-pleated with bubble-edged skirt.

And just today, i got my chiffon grecian-style gown & yellow vintage-inspired dress delivered by Farley to our house. =) I tell you, the mock-up gown is sooo preettyy!! Pwede na talagang pang wedding gown. Will wear it to our planned trash-the-dress (pag natuloy)! We're having some problems pa matching Loel's sched with that of MangoRed.

But yey! can't wait to wear them na! (won't post pix muna, sa prenup shots na para surprise ;p)

To our entourage members, promise you'll love your Farley gowns too! =)

Last night, i also watched a wedding gig of Sound Salad in Oasis. They're good! And yes, quite expensive, too! Hmmm.. Have to think it over pa muna.. Compute, compute ulet tayo bebe.. =)

In exchange of my LV...

Please don’t tag me materialistic, Í’m being just a girl! No hate comments puhlease.. =)

Just the other night, I was chatting with my old dormate-cum-littlesister-cum-kabisyo Lui while I was setting up my laptop to view prison break season 2 (yeah, im behind).. Lui is still in Denmark for a 2-month work assignment and she’s about to be back in Manila in a week or so.. The first 5 words she typed was “Ate, I’ve got the LV!” Aww s%#*! She beat me to it! I’ve been contemplating of buying my very first LV since my birthday few weeks ago.. It’s one of my must-have’s-before-turning-30 list! But since I cannot afford it at the moment I have to again push back the idea and just salivate with that great speedy 30! (It takes me time to save for that bag, the price of working in the govt!) Hay.. Till Lui showed me her own Speedy 25 Damier.. Call me mababaw but im so inggit!!!

After a lot of ribbing, Lui offered to buy the Speedy 30 Mono for me and I’ll just transfer the money to her or pay her when she gets home.. LV is a few thousands cheaper in Denmark by the way. Hmmm.. Tempting. Lui has always been a bad influence.. Hehe.. I weight our present financial dilemma..

Im about to get married in 6 months, is it humanly justifiable to buy that precious bag?

No.

But I won’t be able to sleep for days. Sigh.

Let’s revise the question.

Is it fair to my fiance’ that I got to have my dream bag while he works his butt off to finance our wedding?

Hell, no.

But..

Yeah, I know it’s unfair.. =(

I asked for some time to think about it (hindi naman ako mapilit noh?),, hehe.. That some time according to Lui is less than 24 hours since she can only return to the LV store the following day before she heads back to Manila next weekend. Yaiks! Ok. So here’s our deal. Denmark is 7 hours behind Manila time, so that means before 6 pm the following day I have to call or text her for my decision.

Sunday noon, I called up Loel and asked for his permission. Hmmm.. He said “ok, if you really want to.” In a tampo mode.. Oo nga naman.. I am being childish.. The bag will not be phased out naman in the next 10 years, and I can very well buy it anytime but now.. Hmph! Cge na nga.. So i sent Lui my msg informing her that -- “No, I won’t buy the LV. And NO, she cant’ bring her LV when we meet up once shes’ back in Manila..” Hahaha..

So there..

Today, I checked with Clarice of An Event to Remember (one of the best if not The best wedding coordinator nowadays) if our wedding date is still open for her team. Though I’m a very hands-on bride, I recognize the fact that I need help during d-day. I don’t want to stress myself minding the last minute rush and fixing everybody’s schedule on our most special day.

And so after interviewing several prospective wedding coordinators, I short-listed Clarice and Queen (of Just Like Ours). Clarice’s team is a lot expensive than Queen’s but what made me like her is our rapport. The moment I read her blog and learned her hubby has a thyroid problem just like mine and that she is also struggling to finish her masteral, hahaha.. I feel that we will click. So though she is waaay above our budget (and is non-negotiable, in short walang tawad, hahaha.. peace, Clarice!) I still decided to meet her and we instantly jive! She is very chatty (in a good way) and is very dedicated to her job. Well, I really do not need any proof of her expertise and organizational skills, the w@wie community backs her capability and has in fact named her coordination team as one of 2006 Top Ten Wedding Suppliers of the Year! Whew!

But why did I suddenly include Clarice with my rants about that LV bag?

Because I got her instead.. Yup, I felt so guilty of even thinking of splurging into bags amidst our wedding prep.. So I offered to pay for Clarice team (which my bebe willingly agreed, hehe) and which incidentally costs the same as that of my Speedy 30!

So there.. I may not have my dream bag just yet but hey, we’ll have a stress-free wedding instead. I’m sure you’ll all agree that I made a good deal =)

A Vintage Rock Wedding..

ta-dah!!! drumroll please… :p

Our Mood Board

this is my own definition of what a VINTAGE but EDGY wedding is..

as much as we can we shall stick to this theme with our chosen motiff -- burgundy. decors, attire, music and even lightings must be within the confines of our theme & motiff. but knowing how fickle-minded we are (or at least the bride), we’ll surely clash on our likes and dislikes. that is if the groom pretends to help out on the decors, hehe..

tell me, how else could we achieve a vintage but edgy feel on our d-day? =)

DISCLAIMER: you might not see all things displayed in the mood board come wedding day. but we will try to achieve at least some if not most of those in the photo… ;)
